Bhagavad Gita Empty Bhagavad Gita

to everybody - how is the reading going? Please plan on having finished the Gita by the 23rd (which is the next time I will have a class with you).

don't actually write anything yet, but start letting some of these questions float around in your head as you read:

1. this book is also called the yoga shastra ("yoga rules" - not as in "dude, yoga rules!" but moreso these are the rules of yoga). what are some of the rules of yoga according to the gita?
2. where is the yoga? it seems like krishna is just telling arjuna to fight and worship him - where is the yoga in that? is there a yoga practice according to the gita?
3. krishna talks about different kinds of yoga. what are they? how are they different from one another? is one better than the other?
4. is there any role for hatha yoga in the gita? it is never mentioned outright - but there are some hints of hatha, right? bear in mind the term "hatha yoga" wasn't coined until about a millennium later.
5. isn't this book just a justification for war? i thought yoga was all about peace and love?
